Evangelion essays Evangelion is an anime series based in the Mecha Genre of animation. The concept of the series is survival, but at many a time this concept is betrayed by the many characters inner demons, and emotions which draws upon the question. What really is Survival? If survival is the ability to continue on with life in some way, or another then how would you interpret surviving in a world in which the Eco-System has been fully thrown out of balance. In the year 2000 in Antarctica the first angel was discovered barried within the tundra. Then put under top secret by all the major goverments of the world. Scientists began to study the creature, but during the operation the Angel Adam (1st Angel) woke up, and in its rage manage to cover much of the Earths Northern Hemisphere in a deluge of fire and Destruction. The Goverments involved fearing reprisal, and shock from the general populas passed the incident off as a comet impacting the earth. Considering that the possible threat of a 2nd impact may perhaps one day occur NERV the organization devised to eliminate, and study the phenomenon known as angels when, and where they appear was created. SELE an even more secret organization which even after seeing the entire series I still have not a full understanding of who they are. All that is truly known of them is that they exist to monitor and report all actions within NERV to see if they are attempting to fulfill the Dead Sea Scroll s Prophecy (Which is an actual set of scroll predicting the end of the world.) Tokyo in this particular story has become a large economic and political superpower once more, but not as fanatical as they were previously. Unlike today where there was an Emperor now and before in this future there does not appear to be one and if there is he has no presiding power over the land.
